Dr Nikita Daga appointed as 无码群交 Entrepreneur in Residence

By Press Office

Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, has appointed global entrepreneur and ethnic minority woman, Dr Nikita Daga, as its latest Entrepreneur in Residence.

In her new 12-month role, Dr Daga will provide invaluable insights into research and policy, help to foster equality, diversity and inclusion, mentor emerging entrepreneurs, influence commercialisation strategies, and advise on knowledge exchange and innovation initiatives.

A distinguished professional with a robust background in photonics and laser technology, Dr Daga currently serves as the EPSRC Impact Account Project Manager at Heriot-Watt University, in which she manages projects funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. She is also the Director of Laserquant Technology and Invenita Ltd.

"Dr Daga鈥檚 impressive entrepreneurial acumen and her ability to translate research into technological and commercial solutions will be an invaluable asset to 无码群交. Her leadership will help shape our commitment to inclusivity, innovation, and economic growth."
Professor Richard Butt , Deputy Principal at 无码群交

The Entrepreneur in Residence appointment comes at a pivotal moment, as 无码群交 celebrates its 150th anniversary in 2025. The role will strengthen 无码群交鈥檚 longstanding dedication to social justice, diversity, and entrepreneurship, while enhancing the visibility of role models and addressing intersectionality in business leadership.

The UK Government's recent launch of the Invest in Women Taskforce highlights the pressing need for increased support for female entrepreneurs. Despite significant economic and creative potential, women-led businesses continue to face systemic barriers, including gender bias in funding and challenges related to caregiving responsibilities. In Scotland, only one in five businesses are led by women, and women-founded startups receive just 2% of overall investment capital. The situation is even more challenging for Black and ethnic minority women entrepreneurs, who often encounter the greatest difficulties in securing funding and support.

"I am thrilled to take on the role of Entrepreneur in Residence at Queen Margaret University. This position allows me to leverage my experience to inspire and support the emerging entrepreneurs. I am especially looking forward to the chats and conversations and strongly believe that together, we can drive forward innovation and create a more inclusive entrepreneurial landscape. "

Dr Daga鈥檚 year-long appointment reaffirms 无码群交鈥檚 commitment to fostering diversity in entrepreneurship and supporting women in business.
